Nashville - Kenton Boutwell is an acclaimed certified Personal Trainer from the American College of Sports Medicine, USA Weightlifting Sports Performance Coach and CrossFit Level 1 Trainer.
In addition, he is a StrongFirst Kettlebell Level II Instructor, Precision Nutrition Level 1 and Functional Movement Screen certified professional.
His secret on juggling all of these jobs involves time management.
He discussed his recent success with the Beast Tamer challenge, which involves complex exercises. "I was one of the smallest people that has ever done it, if not the smallest person. I spent 14 weeks training and getting ready for it.
Throughout his career, he has has worked with men, women, and youth of all ages, experience, and fitness levels, from amateurs to skilled athletes. "I started out in martial arts actually and just trained for that. I started training in different styles such as jiu-jitsu and boxing and I got faster and stronger. That is where fitness and exercise came into place," he said.
Boutwell earned his Bachelor's degree from the University of Southern Mississippi and he shared that he is in graduate school at Middle Tennessee State University, pursuing a Master of Science degree in exercise physiology, with three classes left.
A native of Mississippi, Boutwell resides in Nashville. He has also lived in San Diego and Texas and he noted that he was in the Air Force for a while.
When asked about his motivations, he stated, "I am passionate about fitness and that is what I like to do. I am lucky for that. You can always get better at it, and you can see improvement and you can measure it. Fitness makes you feel and look better."
For hopefuls who wish to live a healthier lifestyle, Boutwell reveals that it is all about compliance. "That is the biggest thing. You need to decide that you want to do something, and then you do it consistently," he said.
In an effort for one to become an effective coach, it is essential to find a mentor. "Find somebody who can give you advice and meet with them regularly," he said.
