article imageJamie Foxx to portray Mike Tyson on silver screen

Los Angeles - In the professional sport of heavyweight boxing, perhaps no man inflicted more quivering fear into his opponents than Michael Gerard Tyson.
To put his fierceness into perspective, during a career that spanned two decades, "Iron" Mike won his first 37 professional bouts in a row, tallied an impressive 50 total wins and registered 44 knockouts — 24 of which came in the first round — on top of becoming the youngest undisputed heavyweight champion of the world in boxing history.
Unfortunately, for all his greatness inside the ring, Tyson was a shell of a man outside of it: Drugs, alcohol, financial and legal troubles — including a rape conviction — marred his career up until retirement in 2005.
Now actor Jamie Foxx will attempt to successfully capture the ferocious insanity that built, and ultimately destroyed, the famous fighter's career for a biopic in the nascent stages of development.
The untitled film, reportedly being penned by Terence Winter of Wolf of Wallstreet fame, currently has no financier, director or studio backing, but Tyson has confirmed the actor's willingness to take on the role.
True to his form in the ring, "Iron" Mike held nothing back when asked how he feels about being portrayed by Jamie Foxx, giving the actor a thoroughly bell-ringing endorsement:
"I think he's splendid, because he's really up to par. I think he would do a magnificent job."
