article imageHenrik Sedin to miss second game as Canucks take on Predators

By Marcus Hondro     Jan 23, 2014 in Sports
The ribs of Henrik Sedin that Martin Hanzal of the Phoenix Coyotes slashed last week aren't yet healed. That means that Sedin will miss his second straight game tonight after playing 679 consecutive games.
The Canucks also said center Mike Santorelli is still out. However, defenceman Ryan Stanton, out of the line-up since hurting his ankle Dec. 17 in Minnesota, will be back. Yannick Weber, who's played well since being called up to replace Stanton and Andrew Alberts (concussion) will sit.
Jordan Schroeder, who had surgery on his ankle, has been assigned to the Utica Comets of the AHL for a 2 game conditioning stint; it's a two game sojourn Canuck fans can witness as the Comets play in Abbotsford against the Heat on Friday and Saturday.
The Canucks are also without their head coach, John Tortorella, who still has five more games to miss after a six-game suspension for charging into a hallway outside the Calgary Flames dressing room last Saturday; Tortorella appeared to be seeking Flames coach Bob Hartley, though to what end he hasn't said.
Asst. Coach Mike Sullivan is at the helm while Tortorella is gone and won his first game as the Canucks head coach, 2-1 in Edmonton over the Oilers Tuesday.
Henrik Sedin is listed as being out day to day.
