Filipino boxing star Manny Pacquiao not fighting this year

This was disclosed by Pacquiao’s longtime adviser Michael Koncz, saying his team will focus on the rehabilitation of Pacquiao’s shoulder.

“Our focus right now is nothing more than the rehabilitation of his shoulder,” Koncz told Spin.ph. “We want to make sure it’s a hundred percent then we’ll decide on the activity,” he said

“There’s no fight this year, that’s for sure. We’re not thinking about boxing.” Koncz added.

Pacquiao’s lackluster performance and his eventual unanimous decision loss against Mayweather in the so called “Fight of the Century,” has triggered a series of lawsuits from people who paid $100 to watch the fight on pay-per-view (PPV) and from others who placed their bets on Pacquiao.

“We’ve been sued in 32 different States. I’ve been sued, Manny has been sued, Top Rank has been sued, Floyd … everybody’s been sued,” said Koncz.

Koncz has downplayed the lawsuits saying that Pacquiao’s lawyers are addressing the issues.

“We’re not concerned about the lawsuits. It’s gonna take time, maybe a year or so. Our lawyers will take care of it and we don’t foresee any liability or any payment on our part,” said Koncz.

The plaintiffs claimed Pacquiao had concealed his injury and made false representation, which are contrary to existing laws.

In a separate case filed by Filipino lawyer Edgardo Lopez in behalf of his Filipino Lawyers Group in California, he said Pacquiao’s team did not disclose the injury before the fight.

But Lopez did not include Pacquiao in the lawsuit, saying his group believes that his team or handlers are the culpable party in the case.
