Last month, Mayweather announced in a televised interview on CBS/Showtime that he has decided to fight Pacquiao on May 2 but until now he hasn’t signed the contract for that fight to happen.
In order to appease the fans, Pacquiao gave Mayweather until May 31 to sign the fight contract so he can also look for a viable opponent for his first fight this year.
Mayweather did not respond to the Pacquiao-imposed deadline but he made it appear that he was ready to make the announcement of his decision when he travels to Australia this week for a series of promotional engagements.
But the Herald Sun reported that Mayweather’s trip to Australia has been postponed to next week on visa issues that need to be resolved.
There were reports that Mayweather may not be granted a visa to travel to Australia on account of his criminal records which Autralian authorities say could become a security issue.
Mayweather was due to arrive in Melbourne Thursday but ‘Sydney publicist Max Markson said today that the Melbourne show had been rescheduled for Thursday, February 5, with Mayweather likely to arrive next Monday or Tuesday,’ Herald Sun writes.
Mayweather’s camp has yet to comment on the postponement and its repercussion on the reported announcement that he will make in connection with his own scheduled fight against Pacquiao on May 2.
