Expert favors Pacquiao to win against Khan by stoppage

Khan is the front runner in the race for Pacquiao’s possible opponents which include Kell Brook, Terence Crawford, Lucas Matthysse and Juan Manuel Marquez.

In the ontheropesboxing.com radio interview by Jenna J, Fury was asked how Khan will perform in his potential fight against Pacquiao.

“I think Amir Khan is a very good boxer and he’s got a good chance, however, Pacquiao is very strong. He’s a strong puncher and if he gets to Khan, then it will be over, and this is the problem,” Fury said.

“I think when you get fighters on the top world level, it all depends just how good and how composed Khan can stay out of trouble. Anytime he comes to mix it, Khan will end up on the floor. I have to favor Manny Pacquiao in that fight by stoppage,” he added.

Pacquiao’s promoter Bob Arum has indicated that negotiations are ongoing for the proposed Pacquiao-Khan fight, tentatively scheduled for February next year.

“We were planning for Manny Pacquiao to fight at the end of February, or at the latest, the first two weeks in April,” Arum told the Sunday Telegraph.

“March is out of the question because of a big college basketball tournament in the United States. That gets all the ink at the time. I’m in the process of having negotiations with Amir Khan’s uncle and his lawyer, Robert Davis, and those negotiations are ongoing,” Arum said.

Khan is coming off a unanimous decision win against Chris Algieri last May at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York while Pacquiao is recuperating from his shoulder injury following his loss to Floyd Mayweather last September at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas Nevada.
