Nietes (34-1, 20KOs),who is the longest-reigning Filipino world boxing champion, will be sharing the spotlight with fellow Filipino and five-division titleholder Nonito Donaire, as the main attraction for the supporting card.
Nietes has surpassed the record of the world-famous Filipino boxing legend Gabriel “Flash” Elorde as the longest reigning Filipino world champion following his win over Mexican Carlos Velarde last year.
Donaire, who is coming off a devastating loss to Nicholas Williams of Jamaica, will be facing William Prado of Brazil in the action-packed boxing event that will be Donaire’s first fight in the Philippines since 2009.
Donaire is moving down from the 126 pounds featherweight limit to super bantamweight for the NABF Super Bantamweight title fight.
“It is an added inspiration for me fighting with him (Donaire) in the same card. Nonito is my idol even before I became a champion,” Nietes said
Nietes is aware of Ceja’s punching power and is training hard for the fight with the Mexican fighter.
“He (Ceja) has power and he is a serious threat that is why I am already putting myself into hard training,” Nietes added.
The 32-year-old Nietes has lost only once in his pro career. He stands 5’3″ with a reach of 65″while Ceja who is only 24 years old is an inch shorter at 5’2″ with a reach of 63.”
The undercard line up for the event is yet to be announced.
