Las Vegas, Nevada-based Sands Hotels & Casino has engaged the services of soccer superstar David Beckham to promote its hotel and casino properties in Singapore and Macau in China.
Michael Leven, Sands' president and chief operating officer, said in a statement that the Beckham brand will help Sands 'as we aggressively explore opportunities to further expand our presence in Asia.' dailymail.co.uk writes.
Beckham was in China last month during the Pacquiao-Rios fight where he displayed his hand prints with Marina Bay Sands' President and Chief Executive Officer George Tanasijevich and Sands China' President and CEO Edward Tracy during a promotional event at the Venetian Macao hotel in Macau November 22, 2013
Beckham, who rooted for Pacquiao during the weekend boxing event at the Venetian Hotel & Casino, travelled to the Philippines in 2011 with the entire L.A. Galaxy team to play with Azkals, the Philippine national football team. Read more.
The Marina Bay Sands resort in Singapore which opened in 2010 is one of Sand's premiere properties that has attracted international tourists including casino players from China.
In Macau, China, Sands operates the world's largest hotel and casino with 2,560 rooms and suites, a casino area, celebrity chef restaurants, theater, museum, shopping areas and other amenities.
The central government of China has called on the giant Macau Casino management to try promote the resort and casino not just to gamblers but ordinary tourists and to offer wholesome entertainments and events.
Beckham, who is very popular among soccer fans in China, will try to attract visitors who are not necessarily gamblers, to fill up with visitors the huge Sand's hotel and casino properties in Macau, China and Singapore.
