College Football Rankings: Updated NCAA Top 25 entering week 3

Upsets and injuries have had an effect on the AP top 25 poll, but despite the changes, Ohio State is still on top with 59 of the 61 total first place votes. The Buckeyes dominated Hawaii on Saturday, but with a big win by Michigan State over Oregon this weekend, the Spartans moved from fifth to fourth and garnered the other two votes as the best team in the nation.

The SEC took a hit with three schools dropping out of the poll with losses. Alabama is still holding strong in the second position, but Auburn dropped from sixth to 18th after a less than impressive overtime win over Jacksonville State.

TCU remained third and Baylor dropped to fifth as both programs had big wins over the weekend.

The PAC 12 is well represented, despite the loss by Oregon on Saturday night. USC has moved to sixth after a second straight dominating performance. The Trojans have outscored the opposition 114-15 through two weeks, but they will face a stiffer test in week 3 against Stanford.

UCLA, led by freshman quarterback Josh Rosen, has moved to tenth in the latest AP top 25 poll, giving the conference five teams in the latest rankings.

Georgia, Notre Dame, and Florida State are 7-9, but with the Irish losing starting quarterback Malik Zaire for the year, it could prove tough for the team to continue their winning ways and make a trip to the college football playoffs at seasons end.

Three schools have entered the rankings for the first time this year. BYU with another impressive win over Boise State has jumped to 19th. Northwestern and Oklahoma State have also started the year 2-0 and have hold of the 24-25 spots respectively.
