Casimero stops Edwards in 10th round to keep IBF Flyweight title

Casimero dominated the young aspiring British title challenger from the opening round, scoring left and right combos up to the fourth round when he launched telling blows that shook Edwards who struggled to survive the round on wobbly legs.

In the fifth round Edwards came back with a flurry of power shots that seemed to have caught Carimero by surprise but it was the last round that Edwards performed well as the succeeding rounds saw Casimero scoring with body shots and and left and right combinations.

While Casimero is an orthodox fighter, his left hand has been so effective as shown in his victory over previously unbeaten Amnat Ruenroeng. He did it again as he battered Edwards through the tenth round and nearly finished him with a cracking left hook.

Edwards, who was on a survival mode barely beat the count. The referee had to save Edwards from further punishment as he stopped the fight at 1:57 of the 10th round.

It was Casimero’s shining moment in the international audience as he shared the spotlight with Golovkin and Brook at he the famous O2 Arena in London.

Casimero is one of the four reigning Filipino world titlists that include Nonito Donaire, Marlon Tapales and Jerwin Ancajas.

With the win Casimero improved his career record to 22-3-0, with 14 knockouts white the previously unbeaten Edwards dropped to 8-1-0.
