article imageBuffalo Bills Rumors: Michael Vick still an option at QB?

By Larry Seely     Mar 13, 2014 in Sports
Buffalo - The Buffalo Bills released veteran quarterback Kevin Kolb earlier this week, making a clear statement to the team and its fans that E.J. Manuel is the face of the franchise.
Despite management showing confidence in the youngster, this team did use four different signal callers as starters last year and a veteran backup is now needed. The free agent list of available players shrunk with the signing period beginning on Tuesday, but one big name is still available.
Michael Vick entered the 2013 NFL season as the starter for the Philadelphia Eagles, but injuries hit the veteran and Nick Foles did a terrific job filling in and took over the top spot on the depth chart. Vick is now a free agent and rumors have hit this week on several potential landing spots, including Buffalo.
With Matt Cassel resigning with Minnesota and reports of Matt Schaub likely returning to Houston, jobs are becoming scarce. The 33-year-old reportedly has three teams now in the running for his services and while the Oakland Raiders job is likely the only one that could turn into a starting gig, the Raiders don't have the talent to win and that could play a factor in his final decision.
Buffalo has been active once again this season in free agency and with another strong NFL Draft, this could be the team to beat in the AFC East and Vick could become the mentor that helps Manuel become the quarterback the Buffalo Bills want to lead this team for the next ten years.
