Buffalo Bills Rumors: Anquan Boldin on the radar heading to camp?

With Tyrod Taylor emerging as the starting quarterback, the offense scored 45 touchdowns last year. The running game is in great hands with LeSean McCoy and Karlos Williams combining for over 1,400 yards and ten scores on the ground, but the issue heading into the 2016 NFL season is at wide receiver.

Sammy Watkins is a star, but a broken foot limited the young wide out to 13 games last season. Despite the injury, he still managed 1,047 yards and nine touchdowns and reports have the former Clemson standout ready to return by the start of training camp.

Robert Woods was solid, but not spectacular and with a group of young talent and veterans coming off injuries, depth issues at wide receiver are a real concern. That could change if the latest speculation comes to fruition.

Chris Trapasso of SB Nation has suggested the front office goes after veteran Anquan Boldin. The 33-year-old free agent would give Taylor another solid weapon to work with, but it would also give the team another leader in the locker room.

Boldin is familiar with Buffalo’s offense having played under offensive coordinator Greg Norman for two years in San Francisco and during that time he accounted for 168 receptions, over 1,000 yards receiving in both years, and 12 touchdowns, numbers that would eclipse anything the team currently has on its roster.

With another month until the NFL training camps get started, the Buffalo Bills could use some insurance and with injuries likely, adding a player that can contribute at a high level and help a upcoming and coming quarterback is just what this franchise needs as they look to become more competitive in the AFC East.
