Buffalo Bills News and Rumors: QB’s that could reshape franchise

Several sources have reported the front office is looking to find some help under center, especially now that E.J. Manuel has done little to impress the coaches or fans since being taken in the first round a couple of years ago.

Chris Brown of the Bills Insider has released his latest article on who could help and former NY Jets’ and Philadelphia Eagles’ signal caller Mark Sanchez tops the list. The former USC star had a breakout season last year after filling in for the injured Nick Foles. The 28-year-old completed 64 percent of his throws and finally showed why he was the fifth player taken in the 2009 NFL Draft.

Ownership has spent millions in free agency over the past few years, hoping to finally bring a winner back to Buffalo, but a lack of leadership and experience at quarterback have hurt this team and adding a veteran is a must if this franchise wants to turn things around.

Walterfootball has suggested the front office could go in the direction of another youngster, but with no pick in the first round, they would need to make a trade or wait until the 50th overall selection. Garrett Grayson of Colorado State and Brett Hundley of UCLA are both fantastic prospects, but neither is ready to takeover the starting job of the Buffalo Bills and guide this team to a winning season.

Several quality free agents are available outside of Sanchez, including Ryan Mallett of Houston and Jake Locker of Tennessee. Both have experience in the league, but Locker is injury prone and Mallett did little to distinguish himself in his first starts in the league with the Texans this past season.

One thing is clear, teams need a leader to win and Buffalo must find that special player. Another bad signing or draft pick could set this franchise back another five years, so whatever direction management decides to go, it better be right or it could be a long wait for the fans of this team to see a playoff appearance from the Bills.
