Viloria (36-5-0, 22 KOs), did not say who will be his next opponent but he was hoping for a rematch against Juan Francisco Estrada in September last year. He ended up facing Roman Gonzalez in October last year.
Estrada has not fought since his TKO win against Hernan Marquez in September last year as he had to undergo surgery on his right hand. Like Viloria, the reigning WBA (Unified) and WBO Flyweight champion has also been inactive for about 10 months.
Estrada, who is now on his seven-fight winning streak since losing to Roman Gonzalez in 2012 has been fighting in the 112 pounds limit. Viloria said he is comfortable at 112 but also intends to move further to 115.
“Flyweight has been comfortable for me,” he said. “Right now I’m going to see what my options are at 112. Possibly, maybe go up to 115 but right now I’m comfortable in that weight division (flyweight),” Viloria said.
Viloria looks forward to a successful comeback fight after a long layoff and then go for another title fight.
“That’s something I want to do and then I’ll have to cross that bridge on retiring, but it would be great to get one more [title] under my belt before I call it a day with boxing,” he added.
Nothing has been reported on the new Estrada-Viloria rematch talks but it would be a welcome news to fans because their first fight was a competitive match.
Other than Estrada, the 35-year-old Filipino-American can include at least two more contenders in the 112 flyweight limit in his shortlist including Kazuto Ioka of Japan and Juan Carlos Reveco of Argentina.
