Arum has been urging Pacquiao to travel to the U.S. to have his shoulder surgery checked by Dr. Neal ElAttrache in his Los Angeles clinic. But the Filipino boxing star has been busy with his charity work as well as politics since his return to the Philippines last May.
“He’s doing a million things right now,” Arum said. “But I’m not going to make a fight for him until he sees (Dr. Neal) ElAttrache. ElAttrache said he won’t clear him until there’s an MRI,” he added.
Early this week, Pacquiao has visited the Cardinal Santos Medical Center in the Philippines to undergo MRI examinations.
“Thank you to all the doctors. Very good progress. Glory to God. Successful MRI on my shoulder,” said Pacquiao on Instagram and posted on his FB account after completing the examinations.
Arum has yet to confirm if the MRI result has been forwarded to Dr. ElAttrache’s clinic and if it will suffice as basis for the doctor to issue a clearance for Pacquiao to start training.
Pacquiao is reportedly traveling to the US in the next two weeks to receive the “2015 Game Changer of the Year” award from the Asia Society at the United Nations in New York. It is possible he will visit Dr. ElAttrache’s clinic on his way back.
