article imageAndy Murray finally appoints his new coach

By Kev Hedges     Jun 8, 2014 in Sports
British number one tennis star Andy Murray has finally announced his new coach, since Ivan Lendl and the Scot parted ways back in March.
Amelie Mauresmo, 34, is currently the Federation Cup captain for the French team and will start work with Murray on grass to begin with, and eventually try and get the world number 7 improving on the clay court. Murray said, "I'm excited by the possibilities of the new partnership and Amelie is someone I have always looked up to and admired."
The partnership is certain to raise eyebrows in the men's locker room as female coaches are relatively rare in professional tennis and certainly on the men's tour. But the Frenchwoman has helped Michael Llodra in 2010 during his tour on the grass court.
Andy Murray was brushed aside by Rafael Nadal in the French Open semi-finals on Friday and will now look forward to playing on grass, getting to grips first in the Aegon Championships at Queen's before tackling the big one, his Wimbledon defence on June 23.
