British boxing sensation Amir Khan has finally earned his ticket to the Mayweather sweepstakes after beating Luis Collazo in one of his most impressive ring performances in recent years at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Fighting in the main card of the Mayweather-Maidana fight, Khan dominated the fight, knocking down Collazo once in the fourth round and twice in the 10th round for a unanimous decision win.
Khan used his speed and power to neutralize Collazo's early assault while protecting himself by holding to avoid Collazo's attack.
Although Khan succeeded in protecting himself by holding excessively, he was deducted a point in the 8th round but still managed to maintain his lead,
Judges scorecards were 117-106, 119-104, 119-104, all in favor of Khan.
In another clash at the weekend Mayweather-Maidana undercard, Adrien Broner, who lost to Mayweather's opponent Marcos Maidana late last year, survived a sustained attack by Carlos Molina for a unanimous decision.
After the fight, Broner called out Manny Pacquiao saying he wants the Filipino star for his next fight.
Scores were 99-91, 98-92 and 100-90 all in favor of Broner.
The unbeaten J'Leon Love kept his unblemished record by beating Marco Antonio Periban of Mexico in a 10-rounder super middleweight bout with the scores 95-94, 97-92 and 96-93 all in favor of Love.
