Initially, Chavez was offered $5M for the fight, but he said the amount wasn’t an official figure. He said there were other things that had to be negotiated. The fighter, who defeated Dominik Britsch over the weekend, said that he would be able to make the 165lb weight limit.
Golden Boy’s Eric Gomez, who is the president of Golden Boy, said they were in talks and the fight is a possibility. He added that they will know soon and the weight was still being negotiated and discussed.
Gomez, whose promotional company represents Alvarez, said he knows the two would put on an explosive fight. He said he’s proud because Alvarez and Chavez are the two best fighters from Mexico at the moment and this would result in a huge event.
As of now, the fight has not been confirmed, but the potential for it happening is definitely there.
