2017 NFL Mock Draft: Latest first round projections for each team

Despite front offices around the league shying away from backs, this year’s class will change that with upwards of five players projected to be taken in the first round next April, which could be more than the number of QB’s taken — and that hasn’t been the case in years.

Leonard Fournette is the biggest talent available. Despite the troubles LSU has had on the field this season, the Tigers back should be taken inside the top-5. The latest mocks have Indianapolis and Miami as the top two likely landing spots for the talented 21-year-old.

The Dolphins have also been linked to Stanford’s Christian McCaffrey and while not the most explosive player available next year, his duel-threat capabilities is important as it allows the team to add some depth at another position of need and for a team that has struggled for the last decade, it could be a great move by the Fins’ front office.

Florida State youngster Dalvin Cook is explosive and the type of player that can score from anywhere on the field. The Colts need help in the back field with veteran Frank Gore likely done after this season or next and adding a play maker like Cook could expand the offense in Indy and give Andrew Luck the help he needs to get this franchise back into a Super Bowl contender.

Nick Chubb has climbed the draft boards quickly with his start to the 2016 college football season. The Georgia running back has climbed into a first round talent according to several sources and could begin his career with one of the better teams in the NFL as Green Bay and Seattle have both been rumored on the lookout for some depth at the position.
