Two weeks of the 2016 college football season are in the books and the big boys in the Big Ten and SEC are battling for the top spot in the recruiting rankings with Ohio State leading the way. But don’t count out Nick Saban and Alabama before things become official on National Signing day on February 1.
Urban Meyer and his staff have done a tremendous job in getting talent to play in Columbus. The Buckeyes are on top of nearly every scouting source and with six five-star recruits already making a verbal commitment, things are looking good for the third ranked team in the nation for future success.
The offensive line and wide receiver are the top two areas being added for next year. Josh Davis and Wyatt Davis are two of the best high school offensive tackles in the nation and should anchor the line for the next four years. Both are big, fast and have the strength to play next season and with some experience, could become the future leaders of this unit.
The Crimson Tide have been the dominating team in college football for the last few years and getting the best young players to wear the crimson and cream is the main reason. Saban is also adding some terrific talent on the offensive line, but running back Najee Harris and wide receiver Jerry Jeudy are the players fans will need to keep an eye out for over the next few years.
Rivals now has Florida State second overall with an array of high school talent headed to Tallahassee next fall. Quarterback Bailey Hockman figures to be the future leader of the offense and with wide receiver D.J. Matthews and running back Zaquandre White all giving verbals to the Seminoles, this offense could be very explosive in the future.
Recruiting has always been big business and with scholarship restrictions, its more important than ever to get the right young men. These programs are highly ranked for a reason and with some development and hard work, it could lead to a National Championship down the road for any of these programs.
