2016 NFL Draft: NY Jets looking to make defense even better?

Inside linebacker is perhaps the biggest need for a team that is talented at nearly every position. Walter Football has Reggie Ragland of Alabama as the top option in the first round and for good reasons. The 6’2″ 252 pound tackling machine is regarded as one of the top linebackers in the nation and playing for the Crimson Tide, Ragland is prepared to take that next step and become a star at the professional level.

Another option if needed is fellow SEC linebacker Carl Lawson of Auburn. Both of these young men have played against tough competition and excelled, good news for a team that will need help in the middle of an already strong defense in 2016.

The second round is intriguing as the front office could add depth to the offensive line or take a young wide receiver to learn the ropes from Brandon Marshall. If they choose a wide out, TCU product Josh Doctson has the most upside. With 115 receptions for nearly 1,900 yards and 21 touchdowns over the last year plus, Doctson would make a great third wide receiver and the type of player that could become a big time play maker in the near future.

If the NY Jets decide to add depth on the offensive line, guard Greg Pyke of Georgia is solid, on and off the football field. The All SEC performer has dominated in the middle against some big-time players, Pyke has terrific size and explosive speed off the snap, making him a solid player in the second round and the type of player that could play for 10 years given the right situation.
