2016 NFL Power Rankings: Updated standings heading into week two

Arizona entered the year on top in the eyes of most experts, but how quickly things can change. New England went on the road without Tom Brady and pulled off the upset wit four regulars out on offense, making it difficult not to have this franchise on top after week one.

For those people who expected Denver to just roll over without Peyton Manning or Brock Osweiller leading the way, think again as this team played a terrific second half against Carolina and pulled out a 21-20 victory over the Panthers. The Broncos have one of the best defenses in the league and a strong running game, but they showed they can move the ball through the air with youngster Trevor Siemian and that could make this a dangerous football team this season.

Seattle was another strong contender for the top spot in the NFL and with one of the best defense and a good young quarterback, many have picked the Seahawks to make the trip to a Super Bowl. This squad struggled offensively on Sunday, but Russell Wilson led a comeback win and despite it being difficult, any team would rather have the win instead of a loss and with Arizona losing, it gives this franchise a head start in the NFC West to start the year.

Pittsburgh was impressive in their Sunday night victory over Washington. The Steelers defense played better than expected and with a better-than-average group on offense, led by veteran quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, this could become one of the best teams in the NFL by seasons end.

The tough thing about the first week is half the teams are starting the year without a victory, including a few teams that where expected to challenge for the best record in the league. But now is not the time to panic, for the players or fans as next week gives each another opportunity to make this a successful season.
