One of those teams is the New Orleans Saints and despite having one of the best quarterbacks in the game, could it be time to look for the next leader to lead this franchise?
The latest from Walter Football suggests the front office could look to do just that in April with the teams first round selection. The expert draft site has Cal’s signal caller Jarred Goff headed to the Bayou, especially if the franchise decides to make a change at head coach. Brees is now 37 years of age and for this team to have any chance of competing in the next decade, a new team leader is needed.
Cleveland is another franchise in flux as the Browns have tried making a change behind center, but with little success and the latest mocks from several credible sources has the organization ready to pull the trigger and take another QB with its first round pick.
Paxton Lynch isn’t the top ranked prospect in the latest player rankings, but he is the best quarterback prospect with his unique size, mobility, and arm strength. At 6’7″ he won’t have any problems with vision, but his ability to move around is probably his best asset and one any offensive coordinator can use to score points. Lynch is likely headed to Cleveland unless a trade is made after the season is over and he could become the savior this town has needed since the NFL returned to Lake Erie.
St Louis is another franchise that could make a change under center, despite a trade to land Nick Foles last off season. The Rams offense has struggled all year and with the best young running back in the league, adding a quarterback could be the next step in making a push at a playoff berth.
Connor Cook is the most experienced first round quarterback prospect and could move into the top-5 with a strong showing in January, but for now he’s a mid-first round pick and a player that could begin his career in St Louis or Los Angles is the franchise moves to Southern California for the 2016 season.
