2016 NBA Mock Draft: Toronto Raptors top first round options

With two picks in the first round of the player draft, the front office will have the opportunity to add the size they need at the forward and center positions.

The latest mocks have the team looking to add some bulk with their first selection. Draft Site has Utah center Jakob Poeltl as the top option. The 7’1″ 240-pound sophomore is a beast on the boards and solid on the defensive end of the court, but he will need to learn to shoot better with his back to the basket if he wants to become a complete player.

Another option is Cal’s power forward Ivan Rabb, who at 6’10” would be a terrific fit at the four position and give Toronto a solid scoring option, something they currently lack with the players they have on their roster.

The good news for the team and its fans, the front office has a second pick in the opening round and while its at the back end of round one, they could still find a solid role player that could help this franchise to continue building on the momentum they have obtained over the last two years and possible make this a championship contender in the near future.

One of the most intriguing options available in the upcoming NBA Draft is Australian big man Thon Maker. The 7’1″ youngster hasn’t played against tough competition as of yet, but he has the size and athleticism you can’t teach and the versatility to play any position in the front court.

Another international prospect on the teams radar is Petr Cornelie of France. This youngster has great range with his jump shot and the size at 6’11” to create match-up issues for opposing small forwards.

With the back court the Raptors have in place, adding a scoring threat at forward could take this squad to the next level and with a solid draft and possibly a veteran free agent addition this summer, this could become the team to beat in the East next season.
