The good news, their star quarterback should return to full strength for next season and having him under center will give this team a much-better shot at winning football games. The bad news, they don’t have much room to work with under the salary cap and that means they will likely lean on some young players to help them win the NFC East next year.
While the defense played well for most of the year, the best player available when they take the clock in April is likely someone on that side of the ball. Jaylon Smith of Notre Dame is a difference maker and the type of player that could make this unit special, but rumors have persisted that owner Jerry Jones and his staff could trade down, giving them more picks in what shapes out as one of the better draft classes in the last decade.
No matter what decision Jones makes, adding depth at wide receiver is a clear need, just look at what happened with this team when Dez Bryant missed some time with an injury.
The latest mocks have TCU product Josh Doctson as a possible selection in the second round, but if this team wants to win now, they could bypass Smith and take Ole’ Miss wide receiver Laquon Treadwell with their first round selection, a move that would give the offense an instant boost and give this team a shot at winning now, something they clearly need with Romo now in the twilight of his career.
Walter Football is on board with more play makers on offense and their latest reports have this team taking running back Alex Collins of Arkansas in the third round. With DeMarco Murray gone and no real game breaker on the roster, this youngster could make a big impact in 2016 and beyond.
