2015 NFL Power Rankings: Updated preseason edition

Head coach Chip Kelly has turned Sam Bradford into a passing machine and with the best group of running backs in the NFL and some great young talent at wide receiver, this team has taken a big jump in the latest power rankings, moving up to the fifth position.

Green Bay dropped because Jordy Nelson was lost for the year and now with Randall Cobb and several starting offensive linemen banged up, the Packers are fourth and could fall even farther in the coming weeks if they struggle.

Seattle is another team that hasn’t looked great in the preseason, but the defending Super Bowl Champs don’t play exciting football as they win the old-fashioned way, running the football and playing solid defense, but it will be interesting to see if they open up with some added talent on offense.

For those fans looking for a dark horse, Detroit could be a team to watch in 2015. With the addition of several talented youngsters and a return to health of Calvin Johnson, the Lions could be awesome on offense this season. The defense for Detroit is solid and quarterback Mathew Stafford is ready to take that next step into stardom, making this a very dangerous football team.

On the other end of the spectrum, San Francisco has taken a big stumble. The loss of head coach Jim Harbaugh is just the start as the 49ers have also lost a few players to retirement. The latest NFL power rankings have this franchise ranked near the bottom and unless quarterback Colin Kaepernick can finally put things together, it could be a long year with the team playing in the tough NFC West.
