2015 NBA Mock Draft: Updated post lottery projections

The Timberwolves are among the worst defensive teams in the league and that has led to many of the latest mocks having them take Kentucky center Karl-Anthony Towns, who is excellent at defending around the rim and could average double-figure rebounds in his first year.

If Minnesota takes the Wildcats youngster, the LA Lakers could turn out to be the biggest winners next month with Duke sensation Jahlil Okafor being their selection. The 19-year-old is the best offensive big man to enter the league in the past 10 years and coupled with last year’s pick Julius Randle, could give the “purple and gold” a dominating front court for the next decade.

New York was probably hurt the most in the lottery, dropping to fourth in the opening round, but that doesn’t mean the Knicks won’t get a great player. While the likelihood of getting someone to patrol the paint is slim, look for Phil Jackson to find a floor leader to help improve an offenise that ranked second to last in the NBA during the 2014-15 season.

Jonathan Givony has released his latest mock on Yahoo and has Jackson taking youngster Emmanuel Mudiay, who passed on playing college ball and took his game to China this past year. At 6’5″ and 200 pounds, this youngster already has the size needed to take advantage of smaller point guards and the ball handling skills to help New York immediately

The good news for those picking in the middle of the first round is this year’s draft class is deep in talent. Players like Frank Kaminsky and Jerian Grant, both of whom played four years of college basketball will be available and their talent and experience will help those squads that already have good depth.
