2015 NBA Mock Draft: Latest first round projections

This year’s draft class is loaded with talent, but some of the best talent is from overseas. Kristaps Porzingis, a 19-year-old from Latvia, is the latest youngster drawing rave reviews after a superb workout in Las Vegas recently. At 7’1″ he has the size coaches and general managers covet, but he also showed great touch with his jumper and his athleticism now has the teenager ranked in the top-10 in the latest player rankings.

Orlando is a likely landing spot as he will add depth to their front court. The Magic could use Porzingis at center or forward and teamed with Nikola Vucevic, could give this squad the player they need to become competitive in the Eastern Conference over the next few seasons.

Mario Hezonja, 20, is another European youngster ready to take his game to the NBA. The young Croatian is an outstanding shooter and his 6’8″ frame makes him a match-up nightmare for teams with smaller front courts. The biggest downside is the youngsters defensive skills, but fitted with a team like Detroit or Denver, he could be the offensive spark these two teams need to become playoff contenders in the near future.

All eyes will be at the top of the drafting order and for good reason, but for those squads looking for that one key player, help is available late in the first round and even into round two. Toronto is one such franchise as the Raptors need to find some size and toughness.

The latest reports have defensive specialist Rondae Hollis-Jefferson from Arizona or Montrezl Harrell of Louisville as prospective targets. Both of these young men have the skill set needed to succeed at the next level and could help Toronto get past the first round of the playoffs next season.
