Miami Dolphins Rumors: Todd Gurley top option in round one?

When it comes to projecting who this team might take over the course of seven rounds, many experts look for needs, but with Miami and the lack of depth at several key positions, many of these experts are divided and that could create plenty of drama when the “Fins” take the clock.

Recent reports indicate Georgia running back Todd Gurley is high on the list for the front office and while the dual-threat back is considered one of the top play makers available, it won’t do much good to have a Cadillac running behind an offensive line that can’t open holes.

The defense is another issue as the secondary and linebacker position has some big holes. Walterfootball’s latest mock has the team taking corner Trae Waynes from Michigan State, a move that would help with the loss of Cortland Finnegan and perhaps create a few more turnovers.

Lance Zierlein and Chad Reuter of NFL.com believe LSU offensive lineman La’el Collins is a better option as the coaching staff looks to become more physical upfront and give their young quarterback a bit more time to find open receivers.

Depending on what direction the Miami Dolphins go in round one, the second round will be important as the team doesn’t currently have a selection in round three. Linebacker Benardrick McKinney of Mississippi State is a hot commodity and the type of player that could bring a bit of nasty to the front seven.

The later rounds will be used to find depth and help on special teams, but make no mistake, the front office must find two solid players in the opening round or this team and its fans will suffer through a losing season and possibly head into the 2016 season with a new head coach.
