2015 CFL Power Rankings: Calgary leads the way into week 2

Saskatchewan’s Darian Durant suffered a torn Achilles and will be lost for the year, a big blow to the Roughriders, who opened the year as one of the top teams in the power rankings. The team didn’t rally around backup Kevin Glenn and lost to Winnipeg 30-26.

Mike Reilly of Edmonton was another casualty over the weekend, and while no new news on his knee injury has been reported, it doesn’t appear the Eskimos starter will be back anytime soon.

Montreal was also hit hard as they lost their top two quarterbacks during their shocking loss to second year franchise Ottawa. The Alouettes finished the game with rookie Brandon Bridge under center, but reports have starter Jonathan Crompton possibly returning this week against Calgary.

Despite the rash of injuries, it was a solid start to the year for Calgary, Winnipeg, Ottawa, and Toronto. All four teams overcame their own obstacles to start the year 1-0 and head into the second week of the CFL season with momentum and high expectations.

Week 2 has some interesting games, including the opener on Thursday night as Hamilton looks to rebound from their last second loss and get ready for a Winnipeg squad that had a tough win on the road.

The B.C. Lions will open their year in week two when they travel to Ottawa and take on the Redblacks. The young Ottawa squad will look to continue their early season momentum and start the season with two consecutive victories.

Despite a win, Toronto is also without their starting quarterback as veteran Ricky Ray was lost for the first six weeks of the year with an injury during the preseason, but the Argos go into their contest with Saskatchewan with high hopes after a tough win in the opening week.
