With no selection in the first round, rumors have started about a possible trade of young signal caller E.J. Manuel. While his value has dropped over the last two years, he could get the front office an additional mid-round pick, a move that could help add depth at other areas of need, but it would also create some chaos heading into the summer, something this franchise is trying to avoid after the last few losing years.
The front office has been busy, adding LeSean McCoy and Percy Harvin, both explosive players that could help whoever is leading this team in 2015, but the loss of a couple key members of the defense needs to be addressed in the draft.
Walterfootball’s latest mock has the team using its second round selection on a linebacker, a move that makes sense. Benardrick McKinney of Mississippi State is an excellent prospect and after a stellar year in the tough SEC, he’s projected as an impact defender by draft experts.
No matter what the Buffalo Bills decide to do with Manuel, taking another young quarterback is likely. While spending a third round pick to take a player that might not see the field this season, it would create some competition in camp this summer and possible motivate their former first round pick.
Two names have pooped up on recent mocks for Buffalo. Bryce Petty of Baylor has risen up the player rankings with his solid year with the bears and some great off season workouts. Another name is Colorado State product Garrett Grayson. Both players are mid round prospects with plenty of upside, but finding a starting quarterback in the later rounds is always a gamble.
Buffalo is also without a pick in the fourth round, but the front office will likely use the late rounds for help on both lines and possibly a tight end. This team must start using the draft more effectively, especially with their higher round picks or the next decade will be like the last, no play off appearances and lots of questions heading each season.
