Its difficult to find any experts that don’t have the Horned Frogs as favorites in the conference and with Boykin at the help of a high-powered offense, it appears road games at Oklahoma and Oklahoma State could be the only road block for a squad that scored 30 or more points in every game last season.
When searching for a team that could challenge TCU, one only has to look at Baylor, the only school to beat the Frogs last year. The Bears return 17 starters, but must find a new quarterback. Running back Shock Linwood is a Heisman contender and with a solid offensive line returning, it could take the pressure off new signal caller Seth Russell. Baylor must play better defense in the big games, but with plenty of experience, a great start to the season could get this squad on a roll and that could help in winning the Big 12.
Oklahoma is another school with a great head coach and plenty of talent. The Sooners enter 2015 with high expectations. Running back Samaje Perine is among the best in the country and the defense played well enough to expect big things this year, but the team must find a couple new offensive lineman and with a tough schedule, it might be too much for a team that won just seven games last year to take that next big step and challenge for a conference title.
After the snub from last year, it was clear in the Bowls that the conference needs more talent. The Big 12 won just one post season game in 2014, but TCU could change all that if they stay focused and play with the same energy level as last years team.
