article image2014 Houston Texans Mock Draft: Updated picks for each round

By Larry Seely     Mar 2, 2014 in Sports
Houston - The NFL Combine is over and it apparently has created more drama for the Houston Texans and who they might take with the number one overall selection in May.
It's been reported for months that the front office is looking for a new franchise quarterback and that the team would decide which college signal caller would take this franchise into the future, but Jadeveon Clowney was so impressive last week, several experts are now wavering in their latest mock drafts.
Matt Miller of Bleacher Report still has quarterback Blake Bortles of Central Florida as the top pick. Bortles came out a year early because of his rise up draft boards and with his size, arm strength, and over athletic ability he could become a dominant player for the Texans and the leader this team needs to take a step closer to winning a Super Bowl.
This team has talent, despite their poor showing last season and Walterfootball has suggested that an offensive tackle, pass rush specialist, and backup running back are the next biggest needs for the Texans.
Right tackle is a concern, but help could be coming in rounds two or three, Cameron Fleming of Stanford and Morgan Moses of Virginia are both solid prospects and players that would provide an upgrade over the talent already on the team.
Arian Foster is one of the top running backs in the NFL, but losing Ben Tate to free agency will hurt the depth, especially if injuries hit the position. Jerick McKinnon of Georgia Southern is an impressive back with the skills to help on third downs and after his showing at the Combine, Houston could find the help they need with this youngster in the middle rounds of the Draft.
