Sex makes humans less prone to disease over time

According to the Mirror, the claim came from “a team of scientists who are working to uncover the benefits reaped from rumpy pumpy.”

This means the more couples have sex, the more they avoid virulent genetic mutations, reducing chances of diseases in offspring over time. The findings appeared in Nature Genetics.

Scientists reportedly examined the genetic code of people and found that sex truly shunted hazardous mutations out of our DNA.

Does that mean that now serial lovers get the license to indulge in casual sex?

The answer is no. Because the findings support evidence that married couples having sex for babies have their illness hormones reduced and not of the serial lovers who indulge in casual sex.

The research group reportedly discovered that the parts of the human genome that do not recombine carry a significantly larger quantity of the more disease-enabling genetic mutations.

Mirror quoted Dr. Philip Awadalla as saying “Our discovery gives us a better understanding of how we, as humans, become more or less at risk of developing or contracting diseases.”

The finding is interesting in the sense it sheds light on the genetic advantage of sexual reproduction in humans.

The finding could aid scientists looking for disease-enabling mutations in human genes. Reports mentioned that this could speed up the discovery and identification of mutations associated with specific diseases leading to better treatments and prevention programs.

“This discovery was made possible by the availability in recent years of repositories of biological samples and genetic data from different populations around the globe,” the Deccan Herald reported.
