Mind you, I'm not against suing, if there is a good reason, but the practice seems to have gotten out of control.

Frivolous lawsuits are a drain on our society and need to be stopped. The money and resources wasted on fighting these lawsuits is reprehensible. As taxpayers, we are bearing the burden of these frivolous lawsuits in the form of higher taxes, higher insurance premiums, and increased prices for products and services. Businesses and manufacturers are closing up shop, doctors are abandoning practices, non-profit organizations are seeing a decline in both volunteers and charity contributions, and trial lawyers are laughing all the way to the bank. ...I couldn't have said it better myself.
