Australian journalist Alex Cullen has done a superb job moderating this interview with living legend Olivia Newton-John. Most recently, she celebrated the 40th anniversary of Grease. Cullen is able to delve beyond the surface, and he is able to get some really great, thorough insights from one of music's best-loved female voices.
An acclaimed entertainer, Newton-John is able to look back and reflect on her decorated career, with commentary from some of her closest friends in the business. One of the most surprising things is that she will be turning 70 years old in a few weeks, and looking back at her life's accomplishments, her work ethic is unmatched. Despite her battles with cancer over the years, on three separate occasions (which included her undisclosed secret in 2013), Newton-John has always possessed an indomitable spirit and was able to triumph.
The Verdict
Overall, this is a program that is a must-see for any fan of Grease or Olivia Newton-John. In "Hopelessly devoted to Olivia," she proves that she can overcome life's biggest challenges simply by having a strong, positive outlook on life, as well as being surrounded by loved ones. Her warm and genuine personality is evident throughout the interview, and she proves to be the epitome of grace and elegance.
Her illustrious career in acting and music are an inspiration to us all. One thing is for sure, we "honestly love you," to paraphrase the lyrics of her signature ballad "I Honestly Love You." This program was well done all around, and it garners an A rating.
