Regarding his single "This Is It," McCreery said, "It's exciting. It's my wedding and engagement song. I am excited to sing it every night. It has good memories for me."
While he is stoked with the way that the lyric video for "This Is It" came out, McCreery is looking forward to the song's actual music video even more, in the near future.
He described Seasons Change as his most "personal" album to date, as well as his favorite. "It's the record that sounds the most the way I want to sound like, and from top to bottom, I am really proud of that album," McCreery said.
In addition, his smash single "Five More Minutes" reached the top of the Billboard Hot Country Airplay charts, and it has been certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). "It's a special song, for sure. The day we wrote it, we knew that it was different than most songs we write," he said. "The platinum certification was huge. It never gets old. That was pretty cool."
On June 16, 2018, McCreery married the love of his life, Gabi Dugal. "The wedding was incredible. It was everything that I hoped that it would be. We got to spend time with family and friends. It was a whole weekend of family and friends. We were there from Thursday morning until Sunday," he said.
McCreery had proposed to Gabi Dugal at one of their favorite locations, the mountains of North Carolina, near Grandfather Mountain. "Our engagement took place in our secret spot that we found by accident one way as we were looking for a waterfall. It was equally beautiful. Any time we go back to the mountains in North Carolina, that's where we go," he said.

On his future plans, McCreery revealed, "Gabi and I are moving into a new house, so we are getting things situated. My touring schedule is not going to change much. We are still out on the road. It's all good. I have a partner in crime to go along with me now."
McCreery shared that his show at the Gramercy Theatre in New York went well. "It was awesome. We don't play too often in the heart of New York City," he said. "It was something a little different for us."
Country duo Waterloo Revival served as his opening act for his Gramercy Theatre show. "They are good guys. Their music is great. Anytime we do a show with them, we are excited. George [Birge] and Cody [Cooper] are good guys for sure," he said.
Over the course of his music career, McCreery was the Season 10 champion of the reality singing competition American Idol, and he is excited for its return on ABC. "I love it. That's the show that started it all for me," he said. "Gabi and I would watch it every week when I was home. It is a very special show."
Digital transformation of country music
On the impact of technology (and streaming services) on the contemporary country music scene, McCreery said, "We are reaching more people thanks to technology. Music has never been more accessible than it is right now. More folks listen to country music than ever before. I think it's good for the format."
McCreery is an avid user of technology, especially streaming services. "I am always listening. I am always trying to find new music. You can also find play-lists with the older country songs from the '70s and '80s. It always helps to keep pushing ideas," he said. McCreery shared that he uses his phone to record new ideas for melodies and songs.
Seasons Change is available on iTunes and on Spotify.
