Wallen opened his set with his breakthrough country single, "The Way I Talk," and it was followed by the mid-tempo yet laid-back "Happy Hour." Equally fun was "Whiskey Glasses."
A Big Loud Records artist, Wallen included a killer medley in his show, where he paid homage to such artists as Linkin Park ("In the End"), The Eagles ("Life in the Fast Lane"), Kings of Leon ("Use Somebody"), Fall Out Boy ("Sugar, We're Goin Down"), and even rock group Def Leppard ("Pour Some Sugar on Me").
The highlight cover song of the night was his vivacious version of Bon Jovi's "You Give Love a Bad Name," which resonated well with the New Jersey audience, especially since its Bon Jovi's home state.
He closed his set with his latest radio single, "Up Down," his spitfire collaboration with Florida Georgia Line, which is making its way up the Billboard Hot Country charts.
The Verdict
Overall, Morgan Wallen did an awesome job opening for Luke Bryan at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. He had the crowd with him every step of the way, and Wallen is worth seeing live whenever he comes to town. His live set garnered 4.5 out of 5 stars.
His album If I Know Me is available on iTunes.
