Emmy-winning actor Eric Braeden (Victor Newman on "The Young and The Restless") has released his autobiography, "I'll Be Damned," via Harper Collins this year, and it is a compelling read.

The actor takes his readers on a vivid journey of his life, and believe it or not, this is his first book. It chronicles his life from his birth in Germany, at a time of war during the Holocaust, his childhood (where he talks about his father), coming to America as a teen, to his rise to fame in California. The syntax of the book is quite impressive, as well as his humility and being a man of great character, and staying true to himself at all times.
Without giving too much away, Braeden is a revelation throughout the book, and once the reader begins to read the memoir, it will be difficult to put down. One should not be surprised if they finish it in one or two sittings, and then be left wanting more. Braeden also opens up about how he relates to his character on the show, Victor Newman, and about his relationship with Marlon Brando. Most importantly, he deserves to be commended for all of his philanthropic work, especially with the German American Culture Society.
The photographs featured in the book, highlighting his illustrious career, as an added bonus, and a must for all fans of soap operas (especially The Young and The Restless), or anybody interested in reading a book about a complex yet interesting man, who would subsequently become one of the most beloved actors in daytime television.
The Verdict
Overall, Eric Braeden's I'll Be Damned is an exceptional book, where he really delves beyond the surface. He is not afraid to showcase his vulnerability in this autobiography, which makes it even more raw and powerful. Braeden is able to sustain the reader's attention for the entire duration of the book, and by the end, the readers will get to know the man behind the iconic character Victor Newman on The Young and The Restless, in a more intimate and personal fashion. I'll Be Damned garners an A rating.
I'll Be Damned is available on the official Harper Collins website, and on Amazon.
