They performed Young's chart-topping single, the haunting ballad "In Case You Didn't Know" together, which they both co-wrote. The country fans and listeners went crazy the moment Tomlinson returned to the stage, and rightfully so. "Y'all welcome back Trent Tomlinson to the stage," Young said, prior to revealing to the crowd that they penned it together.
The mutual respect and administration that they have for each other as artists was evident and quite impeccable. Towards the end, Young complimented Tomlinson and encouraged his fan-base to check out his new studio album, That's What's Working Right Now. "You guys pick up his record right now," Young said.
The Verdict
Overall, Trent Tomlinson and Brett Young showed what country music was all about at the CCMF. It was one magical moment that echoes "Vocal Event of the Year." Well done guys! Thanks for keeping it country.
