The European Athletics Indoor Championships were held in Belgrade, Serbia.
Stefanidi cleared 4.85 meters on her first attempt, which was enough to secure her the win, which was a world leading mark in the sport. She also attempted three times at 4.91 meters, for a new personal best, but was unsuccessful.

German pole vault Lisa Ryzih came in second, with a personal best of 4.75 meters, and the bronze medal went to both Swedish pole vaulter Angelica Bengtsson and Maryna Kylypko from the Ukraine (which resulted in a tie of 4.55 meters).
Last month, Stefanidi took first place in the NYRR Millrose Games in New York City, where she bested American athlete Sandi Morris.
At the 2016 Olympic Games that were held in Rio de Janeiro last summer, Stefanidi won the gold medal in women's pole vault for Greece.
