Grammy-winning darling Alison Krauss is back with her new solo studio album "Windy City," and it is quite the magical collection.

It opens with the melancholic piano-driven ballad "Losing You," and it is followed by the upbeat and mid-tempo "It's Goodbye And So Long To You." Equally gorgeous is her cover of country duo Brothers Osborne's "Windy City," which is the title track.
Krauss delivers a haunting rendition of Willie Nelson's "I Never Cared For You" and her voice is ethereal on the piano-driven ballad "River In The Rain." She picks up the pace with "Dream of Me," and her version of Glen Campbell's "Gentle on My Mind" is simply glorious (equal in excellence to The Band Perry's Grammy-winning rendition).
Brenda Lee would be smiling on her cover of "All Alone Am I," where Krauss displays her angelic soprano as she nails the high notes. The 10-track album closes with the uptempo "Poison Love" and the tear-jerking ballad "You Don't Know Me."
Windy City is available on iTunes.
The Verdict
Overall, Alison Krauss mesmerizes on her latest studio effort Windy City. Her voice is too good to be mortal. Look for it to be a major contender at next year's Grammy awards. She is certain to sweep any category she will be in, and it would be very deserving. Windy City earns five out of five stars.
