NFL Fantasy Football: Week eight wide receiver rankings

Posted Oct 24, 2016 by Larry Seely
With NFL teams using the passing game more and more, wide receivers have become the go-to position for fantasy football owners, a big change from the running backs that ruled the game ten years ago.
Through seven games this season, 20 players are averaging over 70 yards per game, making depth and match ups key to selecting the right starting roster each week.
This week's top wide out is Julio Jones of Atlanta as the Falcons star is projected to score over 17 points for owners on Sunday. With 40 receptions for over 800 yards and 4 touchdowns already this season, Jones is not only a great start in standard leagues, but is one of the best choices in daily and PPR leagues.
A.J. Green is also on a roll, despite Cincinnati struggling to win football games. The Bengals All Pro is averaging over 110 yards per game this season, making him a must-start wide receiver against any defense.
While injuries haven't been a big problem at the position this season, help is always needed with the occasional missed start or players on a bye week. There are still a number of great options available on the waiver wire and here's a look at the best available heading into week eight.
Washington Redskins Jamison Crowder is still available in over 60 percent of leagues. With 10 receptions for 160 yards and a score over the last two weeks, last years fourth round draft pick is finally getting the hang of playing in the NFL and is becoming a solid option, no matter what type of league fantasy football owners play in this season.
Another option who is gaining some hype over the last few weeks is Brandon LaFell of Cincinnati. The former New England Patriots wide out is clearly the number two choice for quarterback Andy Dalton and it showed last week with four receptions for 83 yards and a touchdown.
