Streisand beats Spears to top of U.K. album chart

To artists seeking a comeback of sorts released albums this week. On the UK album chart veteran Barbra Streisand has beaten Britney Spears to the top spot.

Barbra Streisand's new record is titled Encore: Movie Partners Sing Broadway. The album is a collection of show tune duets featuring the likes of Hugh Jackman, Jamie Foxx and others. The record is Streisand's seventh number one album in the U.K., and her first since 2009's Love Is the Answer.
Encore: Movie Partners Sing Broadway is the thirty-fifth studio album by American singer and songwriter. It was released on August 26 by Columbia records. Digital Journal's Markos Papadatos has given the album a shining review. The record comes in two formats, a standard ten track edition and an enhanced version containing four additional songs.
In its first week of release in the U.K., Streisand has achieved 20,000 combined sales (across all formats.) Britney Spears's effort, Glory, has debited at number two on the chart. The record is Spears's ninth studio album. The record has twelve tracks.
The race to the number one album on the U.K. may be seen as a warm up for the U.S. presidential election, for Streisand is a well-known Democrat supporters, whereas Spears had often been associated with the Republican Party.
