Ireland's government on Friday agreed to appeal against an EU ruling ordering Apple to pay the country 13 billion euros ($15 billion) in back taxes and said parliament would be recalled early to debate the issue.

Ireland's government on Friday agreed to appeal against an EU ruling ordering Apple to pay the country 13 billion euros ($15 billion) in back taxes and said parliament would be recalled early to debate the issue.

There was a "unanimous decision by the cabinet to appeal the decision," a finance ministry spokesman told AFP after a crunch cabinet meeting amid divisions between ministers over whether or not to accept the European Commission's finding.
