Pictsweet, a Bells, Tennessee-based company was not available for comment today, but a recall notice from Giant Foods was published indicating Oregon Potato Company, doing business as Freeze Pack was implicated in the recall.
PictSweet “Seasoning Blend” and “Steamable Spring Vegetables” are sold at Giant, Martin’s, Schnucks and other stores across the country. The Pictsweet recall comes just one day after Reser's Fine Foods issued a recall for 19 different refrigerated salads because of possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination from chopped onions in the products.
It seems that no one is talking because officials from Pictsweet and the Oregon Potato Company are not responding to calls for comment, according to Food Safety News. As of now, there have been no recall notices issued by either Pictsweet, Oregon Potato Company or the Food and Drug Administration for the onions or for any other products containing the onions, with the exception of the FDA notice for the Reser's Fine Foods recall.
The recalled frozen vegetable products are:
Pictsweet Seasoning Blend, 12-ounce, UPC: 7056096902, Best by date: 4/2/2018; and
Pictsweet Steamable Spring Vegetables,10-ounce, UPC: 7056097826 Best by date: 3/19/2018.
According to Giant Foods recall notice, customers may return impacted product for a full refund. For additional information, contact Pictsweet Consumer Services @ 731-663-7600 ext. 525. Out of an abundance of caution, all product is being pulled, but the only product with a Best If Used By Date of 3/28/2016 is impacted.
