Filipino boxing superstar Manny Pacquiao is the second highest-paying individual Philippine taxpayer for 2014 as shown in the list of Top 500 Philippine taxpayers released by the Bureau of Internal Revenue on Friday.

While Pacquiao paid more taxes last year compared to the previous year, he lost the No.1 spot to Rebisco's Jacinto Ng, who paid a total of P280.1 million in taxes.
Pacquiao paid P210.3 million to become the second highest individual taxpayer for taxable year 2014 followed by Vivian Azcona who paid P153.6 million for the third spot.
Other taxpayers in the Top 5 list include Jose Alvarez (No.4) and Jacinto Ng, Jr.(No.5), who paid 73.01 million and P66.9 million respectively. To view complete list, click here.
Pacquiao derived his income from prize fighting (boxing), commercial endorsements and acting, among others.
Pacquiao is expected to top the individual taxpayers list in the next taxable year as he will have to input his income from his record-breaking fight against Floyd Mayweather last May,
The incumbent congressman from the lone district of Sarangani is seeking a senate seat in the 2016 national elections. He said he will quit boxing to devote his time as senator if he wins in the upcoming election.
In a recent survey by Pulse Asia, Pacquiao ranked 7-10 along with fellow senatorial candidate Richard Gordon. followed by Teofisto Guingona who ranked 8-10.
Pacquiao is set to stage his farewell fight on April 9 but he has yet to name his next opponent.
