Review: Drake White warms up Citi Field stage for Zac Brown Band Special

On August 22, Dot Records country artist Drake White and his band, the Big Fire, opened for Zac Brown Band at New York's Citi Field.

White wore shades and a brown hat as he took the stage. "How are you going?" White asked the crowd, prior to beginning his set with his unique version of Tina Turner's "Proud Mary."
He went on to introduce himself and his band, the Big Fire, and he accompanied himself on acoustic guitar on the follow-up "Raised Right," where his vocals were reminiscent of the country group, The Cadillac Three.
In "I Need Real," he displayed his ability to ham, as well as his wide vocal range. He covered 4 Non Blonde's smash hit single "What's Up ," where he had the crowd singing along with him, as well as waving their hands up in the air.
"We are glad to be here," White told the Citi Field audience. "What a great Saturday to listen to music and open up for the Zac Brown Band," he added, prior to praising the headlining act, Zac Brown Band, for being one of his favorites.
"Ya'll having fun so far?" he inquired, prior to performing the upbeat and fun, fiddle-driven tune "Everybody Got A Story."
"You sound beautiful out there Queens," he said, prior to thanking the New York country radio station, Nash FM 94.7, for helping them by playing music.
White went on to express his gratitude for the men and the women serving in the military for "the best damn country in the world."
"Do you feel good this evening?" White asked, prior to singing "Back to Free." He noted how he and his band are appreciative of the fans who came in early to see him and his band perform at Citi Field.
He and his band closed with their latest radio single "It Feels Good," where they had the crowd clapping along with them.
The Verdict
Overall, Drake White and the Big Fire were able to deliver during his opening slot for Zac Brown Band. They showcased a tremendous amount of potential as a country music band. His live show at Citi Field garnered 4 out of 5 stars.
