First reported by Game Informer, North will be the new voice of Ghost starting with the release of Destiny: The Taken King-expansion. It has even been confirmed that he will be re-recording all the original dialogue that was performed by Dinklage.
Bungie has not given a reason for the recast but it has been speculated that it may have to do with the criticism that Dinklage had received for his performance. Critics and gamers had panned his performance for being boring while lacking any personal depth.
Another theory from John Teti of A.V. Club speculates that this is a cost-cutting move as it would be cheaper to work with North.
Destiny is an open world MMORPG shooter that follows humanities efforts to rebuild their colonies following an event known as the Collapse. The game was released in 2014 for all major consoles and was highly praised by critics along with gamers.
Peter Dinklage is an award winning actor who is well known for his role as Tyrion Lannister on Game of Thrones. Nolan North is a voice actor who is well known for his role as Nathan Drake in the Uncharted series.
