The fight was scheduled for three rounds, and at one point in the first round Tate was left wobbling. However, she came back from that and throughout the rest of the fight, she ended up doing the most damage.
In the second round, Eye landed some heavy shots, but Tate sent her stumbling after hitting her with a right hand. Eventually the fight was taken to the ground, where Tate landed some hard strikes. Eye did attempt to get Tate in a reverse triangle choke, Tate managed to avoid that.
Tate pretty much controlled the third round too, and when the final round wrapped up, the judges all scored in Tate's favor.
The victory has earned Tate another shot at the UFC women's bantamweight title, which is currently held by Ronda Rousey. Rousey has a title defense on August 1, but if she wins that fight, then she will be facing Tate for a third time.
Rousey has defeated Tate on two occasions. The last time the two fought was back in 2013, and the fight went three rounds. Rousey was able to submit Tate in the third round, but since losing that fight, Tate has gone on to win four fights in a row.
